Opportunities in Key Sectors
The Irish Loop Region has a diversified and growing economy. Sectors ranging from fisheries, tourism, marine-related industries, manufacturing and processing, retail and service, energy, agriculture to crafts and technology dominates the business activities and creates employment in the region . The areas close to St. John's have participated in the economic growth fueled by offshore oil and gas, including a new offshore support and transshipment base in Bay Bulls.
The Irish Loop Development Board and its community and government partners have selected three sectors that have shown substantial growth and development along with prospects for the future in the region. These are the Manufacturing, Tourism and Marine Services and Transhipment sectors. We are encouraging business investment and expansion nationally or internationally in these sectors.
